Hi everybody!
I have heard all sorts of information regarding the diest of an otocinclus catfish.
I have read books where they say Otocinclus ONLY eat green algae.
Some websites say they eat brown, green, and hair algae.
Other people say they eat all kinds of algae!
So, once and for all, which types of algae do otocinclus consume?

Hi aquariumrookie,

My Otocinclus eat diatoms (brown algae) and soft green flat type algae. They do not eat green spot algae, green dust algae (both are 'hard') nor any of the hair algae types.

Nor are they interested in BBA until it has died and turned white.

Mine *love* the diatoms. I've never seen it go after the hair algae.
