What a bummer. You'll be amazing to get them in shape in a week! Glad everything (mostly) is alive! Guess you need a different babysitter next time! 
OMGosh my tanks look horrible
So I was out of town for 5 weeks and my hubby was to care for the tanks :icon_evil well , I come home to very few RCS left alive , hydra growing in that tank. my puffer tank is green as can be , the airpump quit working at some point , one super skinny dwarf puffer and one fat DP :icon_frow. all the tanks had so much water evap it was ridiculous , the fry that should be huge are all still kinda tiny , the guppies all look like miniatures right now , massive snail die off in all tanks , plant growth sucky, filters unbelievable gross , this is going to take me all week to try to make them halfway decent again :help: :icon_evil , well at least most things are still alive :icon_surp

haahaa ,, I knew not to expect much , but the RCS population back down to about 20 really sucks
That's the downside for those of us whose spouses don't really have an interest in aquariums....If I had to leave my husband in charge of mine, they'd be eating ten meals a day, never get a water change unless I called to remind him, and he would never know if the filter quit working. He asked me yesterday (after we've been together a year!) if those were real plants or fake ones in there lol.
When I did leave our tank with my mother-in-law babysitting it once when we had to go to Colorado for four days to pick up some livestock, she would call me multiple times a day to ask about a noise the filter was making, and then the cory cats were sitting on the bottom being still and she was worried, and then she couldn't find the light switch (they're on timers, so there isn't one) and then the 'bubbler' wasn't bubbling (The CO2 had shut off for the night), and she wanted to just be sure I meant it when I said they could go four days without being fed....At least I know nothing bad will happen without her noticing!

That's what happened to me a few years ago. I went away for most of the summer, and one of my mom's students watched over the house for us, and she didn't even know that the filter quit working... I thought it was kind of pathetic actually... Sorry to hear about the aquarium problems you came home to.
So, has your tank bounced back? Is this the same tank as the cory fry?
my wife "tolerates" this hobby. she tries to act like she hates the fish tanks, i catch her staring at them all of the time though. its kind of a funny little joke we have. i'll ask "you weren't staring at the tanks were you?" to which she will reply,"if looks could kill your stupid plants would be dead.":eek5:! she complains when i get something new and acts uninterested. i know she likes the tanks though...
but gosh, now i'm worried. an internship is going to keep me away for 6weeks next summer. i wish we had an active club in my area. i'd get someone to come over and do the maintenance....
