I'd like to invite all Oklahomans to visit our club's website. The OKCAA has OKC in the name, but we have members from all over the state and a few that live in other states. Our next meeting will be December 11th, Saturday evening at 5pm in Norman. The address will be posted on the site this week. We'll be having a bowl show and our traditional Christmas pot luck.

Our regular meetings are the 3rd Saturdays of the month at the OKC Zoo Education Building from 2-4pm, but every 3rd meeting is held in a members home during the evening so that people that work on Saturday can catch a meeting. It's also a good chance to see some really nice aquariums.

Meetings generally include a speaker or demonstration, a discussion and an auction. The auction usually has a lot of fish and plants for incredibly low prices, so it's worth checking out. Several of our members are hard core aquatic gardeners and bring in their trimmings regularly, we also do a lot of trading between meetings. It's a great way to meet fellow hobbyists and visitors are always welcome. :proud:

www.petsforum.com/OKCAA We also have a yahoo group that doesn't require being an OKCAA member to participate.

One of the benefits of membership is that card carrying members receive discounts at several fish stores in the region including Aquarium Concepts in Warr Acres, Pet Lovers in Mustang, Reef Shop in OKC and some others that I can't remember right now, but I'll add them later. I know the one in Shawnee gives us a 25% discount.

Tulsa Meeting

We're inaugurating the Tulsa Chapter of the OKCAA this Saturday. We'll meet from noon until 2pm at the Tulsa Zoo Education Building. The subject will be a presentation on African Cichlids by Gerald Griffin. There's going to be lots of fish being exchanged in the auction directly afterwards.

When is the next meet?

Next meeting will be at David Stewarts home; you'll DEFINITELY want to make this meeting - YOU TOO KJPLANTED - hope you're still watching these threads.. haven't seen you on the TOKAC forum yet (though honestly i dont' "forum" much myself and been super busy lately w/ work)

David keeps about 60+ tanks or so in a dedicated fish room.. TONS of fish species and his planted display tanks are great looking too!

We'll both likely have a bunch of plants for club auction - my tank is in DESPERATE need of a trim right now, so don't know if it will wait the week or two more before needing to go though.. ;(

I'm waiting for meeting details now from David. As soon as I know date (we generally meet on first Saturday of each month but Sept wknd is Labor Day wkdn so not 100% yet) & time; i'll post to both the http://tokac.org forum and the TOKAC FaceBook Page

(couldn't figure out how to add the href links so here's the direct link ;0)

gah all the oklahoma fish associations are dead...
I can't comment about TOKAC but the OKCAA reorganized into the OKAA several years ago and is still alive although struggling. our website is www.theokaa.org

the few of us that have been working to keep the club going seem to be busier and busier with work but we are doing our best to keep the interest going. you can find more information about the goings on on the forum.
