Heey so I need help with my little oebts :]

Ive had mine for like a 1 1/2 months now and I dont have any berry females Need help in trying to figure out whats with them.

GH = 175PPM
Ph = 6.4
Nitrate = 0
Nitrite = 0
KH = 80PPM
TDS = 180
RO Water w/ Remin.
ADA soil
16 OEBT in total
Filter = HOB w/mesh
Temp = 74-76F

OEBTs do not like high temps. I find mine do best at 69-72F.

Also take a look at the POSTED pH, most keep theirs in 7.0 to 7.5 or higher

As we all know, everyone has success with different parameters. What I have found are the best parameters are ph 7.0-7.4, tds 220-250, gh 8-12, kh 2-4, temps 72 or lower. That being said, I have had oebt live in ada Amazonia substrate, ph 6.4 tds 150 gh 6 kh 0. Temp 76. But they did not breed.

I know your oebt's are prolific but holy crap gH 8-12? That's like liquid rock levels lmao......

Ive always done better at like 6.6 ish and softer water but then again an OEBT's ability to breed probably depends on its sources. If it's been bred in certain conditions for generations....it's probably gonna breed in those conditions easier.

As far as the temp goes, I cant currently do anything about it because we dont have A/C where I live (Im using a fan and thats lowering it a little) but atm thats all I can do.

I got it from a local guy and from what he's telling me, its the same specs he has.

They are molting fine and active. As far as gh & kh, Im using the strips to test (thats the only test that I have available atm) so it should be give or take 1-2 degrees off (The tanks is 40 gal btw).

I also have a 5 gal and they're not breeding either. The specs of that tank are as follows:

GH = 75-150PPM
Ph = 6.4
Nitrate = 20
Nitrite = 0
KH = 40PPM
TDS = 145
RO Water w/ Remin.
ADA soil/fluval stratum
6 OEBT in total
Filter = HOB w/mesh
Temp = 74-76F

Mybe they just are not breeding age yet? I have also found they take a couple momths to adjust to a new tank for breeding to start. I keep my oebt and royals in very similar params to duke, gh 6-7 though.
