I was doing my bimonthly trim on my ten gallon tank, cutting back stem plants and collecting java fern plantlets, when this odd plantlet type thing that had been growing out of the center of the javafern popped off. I had been wondering what it was for a few weeks as it grew in but didn't snap a picture of it while it was growing in. I left it floating in my tank for a week or so and just recently felt the need to know what the heck it is. Here is a pic I snapped of it, floating to the right of the fish.

My question is, what is it and does it say anything about my tank conditions?

It looks like riccia to me....which is another plant. It probably just got stuck to your java fern or something.

Looks like Riccia to me. You probaly had a very small hitch hiker on the Java fern... now you have a small clump.

Wow,thanks for the quick id guys. To me thats a pretty sweet bonus plant because it's not sold here. Now I just have to do some more research into making the newly dubbed riccia grow well. I really should have taken a picture before it popped off, it looked really neat, and I thought it must have just been a natural part of javaferns growth
