I was affected by the Oakland County Boil water alert we had last week and I have put off water changes until this weekend assuming that they might use extra chlorine/chloramine to flush the system. Does anybody know of a reason why the water might not be safe for fish now? I don't smell a strong chlorine odor, and I'm hoping that everything is back to normal.

i yell at the city water department all the time here in jackson, i tell them i pay 100 bucks every 3 months for water, that i cant even make coffee with, then ask them over for a fresh cup while i pay my bill.... they tend to get very quiet. after flint.. who are we going to call to make sure our water is safe for us to drink, none of the gov. agencies will be honest about it, i know that

You can do an extra step after you use a declorinator and aerate the water for 48 hours before you use it. Using a pump with an airstone or a powerhead to circulate the water would help blow off any excess chlorine. I used to live in Livonia and some days the chlorine smell and taste was so bad it reminded me of pool water so I'd do that extra step before mixing up salt water for the reef tanks.
