I got this from a relative's garage. He said that he got it from someone else who had fish tanks. Dont know if fresh or salt water.

The plastic bags are sealed.
It seems like lava rock but i really dont know. Could it be filter media?
I haven't tested with anything to see ph or other.

I would say coral or lava rock as well...

Looks a lot like (formerly live) rock rubble. The kind of stuff people use in refugiums or to seed smaller tanks.
