"Normal" CO2 flow rate

I have 55 gal. medium planted tank with some fishes (3 convicts, 6 barbs). 130w of lights. Lights on for 10 hrs a day.
In the process of setting up pressurized CO2 system. I've got tank and regulator at this point (still waiting for solenoid, needle valve etc) but of course I can't wait to start using it. :)
For now I just connected regulator output to the canister filter water intake and since I have no pH meter at this point I'm wondering what's the acceptable safe flow rate of CO2 would be (in terms of bubbles per second)? I'm turning off CO2 for a night.

Thanks!

There is no real way to answer the question. You need enough CO2 to get to 30 ppm. That might be 1 bps for one person and 3 bps for another. There are MANY variables that affect this.

So start out at 1 bps and see what kind of levels you get. Then make adjustments.
Even with a dropchecker your co2 rate will vary depending on the tank

Very true, I thought Maxim might benefit from being able to determine his approximate CO2 level though.

Did not mean to imply that it was worthless but just stating that even with a drop checker the co2 varies from one tank to another.
