nitrates/plants/discus

In a high tech, moderately to heavily planted tank with discus what would be the optimal nitrate range to keep the plants happy without impacting the fish? I do EI dosing as directed by the sticky. The tank is a 90g and I am actually using the EI instructions for a 40 to 60g tank. The tank is still in the "building" phase now it has 80% of the plants in it and the rest will be in this week. I only have a couple small schools of fish now and will be adding discus later. Do I have to adjust the EI dosing nitrate portion based on the bio load in this case? thanks
