Hey guys so my nitrates are getting high so I need to stop dosing kno3 for now. I remember reading on here that there is another fert you can use in place of kno3 when nitrates get high. What is that fert? Also how much of it should I dose? I have been dosing EI.

I have a 40 gallon tank without co2. I have been dosing micros and macros twice a week instead of three times since I do not use co2. thanks!

instead of kno3 dose k2so4, if you normally dose 1/2 tsp of kno3, and switch to 1/4 tsp of it, then pick up the slack by dosing 1/4 tsp of k2so4.

Do you do regular big water changes? If you are changing half of the water in the tank about every week to 2 weeks, you shouldn't ever have a too high nitrate concentration in the water. Some water companies don't control the nitrates in their water very well, so some people have tap water that has a significant amount of nitrate in it. If your tap water is like that, then I suggest you do as sohankpatel suggested.
