Next custom tank

So I have already started little plans in my head for my next custom tank as my first attempt at a home made nano turned out... Well without sounding egotistical, it turned out great!

This next tank will be at home and will need to be at least 10+ gallons and will utilize crystal/starphire glass.

My question for you guys, what dimensions should I shoot for? it will primarily house shrimp, apparently the wife enjoys shrimp over the 125 gallon tank with discus...

thats around what I was thinking, maybe kick it out to 18 deep and 10 high that could be a really fun tank!

Very nice, but where do you hide all these tanks so your wife does not see them. ha ha

thats the best part, this one will be for the wife!!

Other then that there is a lot of begging asking for forgiveness and bribery involved ;)

Since it's for your wife. Is there a spot in the house that is a particular favorite place for her? Maybe build the tank to fit that space allowing the space to dictate the tank size.

It may go into the corner next to my 125 gallon :)

She is tired of the 10 gallon taking up counter space...

24x12x12
I am actually thinking I might have room to do like a 24x24x10-16" cube design :)

Oh btw I am taking requests for building nano setups haha j/k

I used to have a 24x24x12 tank. Was a very cool size to work with, but at the time I'd wished I'd had more height. Even like, 2 inches would have been nice. Now I have a 21x22x13 and think it's pretty much perfect. The shrimp seem to like it too. Hah.

the little extra height made that much difference?

Amazingly, yeah. It doesn't sound like much, but visually it made a massive difference. I don't know that I'd go over 14" though.

....
If I build another tank that's the size I thought about 24x24 maybe 14" D?

My DIY 42 is 36x18x15".

With 24x24" a single PAR38 LED pendant would be perfect. It would dictate a a island type Scape or careful thought to plants toward the sides. It also think is would not be as imposing in a the corner of our humble dinning room as a taller tank might.
24x24x14, and take lots o pics cause I am sitting on a quote for a leemar that size, and am terrible at visualization. Original thinking was that i wanted something square small enough to float in the middle of the room, and if amano does a 24" tank with a 14" height, its probably just about right...like a double wide 60p
Guess we have our heading! will be doing this one in cyrstal/starphire.

I am just excited the wife said I could lol. really I would love to put it on the end of our kitchen counter.... But thats asking for trouble... if I get good enough maybe start a little profit on the side :D
