Thanks for the head's up on the Petco sales guys. Also, it seems to me that Petco is dropping a lot of their hardware stock to almost nothing lately, at least here in the Syracuse stores. I wonder what's up with that...could be just seasonal stock rotation but the last time I was in their store on Erie Blvd, it was stripped almost empty of any good filters or assorted paraphernalia associated with pumps, etc.

That auction in April is HUGE by the way. The festivities start at 10 am and go way past 9 pm, and there's always just a whole slew of plants and animals and equipment up for auction. HIGHLY recommend it! Also, if you see something on a table you want and you don't have the time to wait for it to get to the auctioneer, you can ask a volunteer to let you buy it right away and you pay the price on the tag (everything has a starting price tag) and add $2 to it and you can buy it right then and there.

Yea the petco out there in northern lights seems to be better that way. I don't know why because Leah seems to be on the ball...older store maybe, or the NL store is just better budgeted for esthetics due to it's suburban location..

I went to ABC Reefs 2 the other day and I must say I was impressed. Rachael is quite the merchandiser! They had lots of plants and some pretty awesome cichlids as well as a few rare fish you don't see in stores often. Of all the stores in my area, I think that Syracuse Aquarium has the best mix. Saying that, I have also been in there when Chris had next to nothing in the store, so it just depends on the day and time. Fairmount Aquarium has unfortunately become a disappointment to me. Hopes were so high for that new fish room and I know Tom is still working on it, but it's been what, 2 years now? Fact is that if I can find it online I will go that route if it isn't an emergency, or for live animals. Prices are usually a LOT cheaper. I love to support the locals, but when they want $27 for an impeller that I can buy online for $9.....

Chris I don't have anything remarkable plant-wise. Just a lot of stems and ferns. I do manage to grow a massive grove of cryptocoryne wendtii that I trade to Chris at Syr. Aq. every few months for fish or whatever. If you're the local discus guy we might have to talk. I'm seriously considering a major re-do sometime in the next few months and I'm not sure what direction I want to take my main tank in.
