New to using Root Wood for hardscape and running into an issue.

I am letting the wood soak before it is used in the actual layout. A cloudy/white substance is starting to coat the wood. I have heard that this is a fungus that is in the wood and it will come off. Problem is that I need this to be in very good/acceptable condition in 4 weeks for a layout

Does anyone have any tricks to removing this in that time frame?

Also, I can't boil b/c the wood is too big to fit in any of my pots.

it will go out, and some fish will eat it, and 4 weeks is usually enough for that. You can scrub some of it from time to time.
You can bleach it out (color can fade) and that will kill some of the bacteria, but better IMHO is to or soak (somehow) it in peroxide. that may help somehow, but not 100% guarantee to get rid of it.

peroxide is interesting. i will see how the scrubbing goes and try that as a back up. attached some moss so i don't want to have to redo but might be desperate.

ooo, so it is already in the tank. ya, peroxide will kill the moss
peroxide is good to have handy for the hobby. it works great as a disinfectant and not that harmful as bleach, i.e. easier to wash etc.

I just transferred a piece into my Household 6's tank & the Cory trio in there went to town eating it. I just let it go away naturally on my bonsai trees, but that does take a while.
