Hey I'm a new member. I've got fish and snakes and a couple of small frogs, and I've had these kinds of animals all my life, but I've never set up an actual vivarium for them. I recently got a green frog tadpole and a couple of species of Ambystoma larvae and I've been thinking of setting up a vivarium for when they morph into adults (or maybe just for the frog if the salamanders won't work out in there). I'd like to do something that resembles a marsh or the edge of a pond, like where I found the animals. I don't want to do anything too elaborate or cluttered.

Any suggestions? Has anyone done something like this with natives? I looked through the forums and there's a lot of tropical stuff but I didn't really notice any native stuff.

Here and there you get smatterings of people doing native fish setups (for example, scolley's original kahuna thread). But for the most part, people incline toward the 'exotic'.

Keep us updated if you decide to build.
