55gallon
48"x12"w x 21"h

Nitrate 10-20ppm
Nitrite 0ppm
Hardness 120ppm
Alkalinity 80
PH 6.6-6.8

Lighting
2pcs 18" 15w 120v T8 8,000k
Full Spectrum

Plants include
Java Fern
Red Melon Sword
Bronze Wendth
and grass (forgot name)

Any I am seeing little growth in plants but the brown algae seems to be doing great

I am thinking the brown algae may be lighting so should I go to a T5 if I can find them here local

You don't have enough light to grow plants, other than mosses and possibly Java Ferns. A good light to look for is the Coralife T5NO light - 2 bulbs, 4 feet long. That one has been successful for many people with low light tanks.

Thanks for the warm welcome.

I upgraded to Two T5 48" lights

Much brighter.

Still seem to be getting the brown algae On glass and now leaves.

The tank is well over a year old. Fish are a few months in the tank

Some guppies and two YoYo Loaches

I though by adding plants the algae would slow.

I am also changing 13gallons a week
