Tank has been set up & cycling for over 3 weeks now.

Fishless cycle adding pure ammonia up to around 3ppm every 5 days or so.

Gone past the ammonia stage now, stuck in the nitrite stage.

Ammonia is zero
Nitrite is around 2-3ppm (currently at zero as I have had to add prime)
Nitrate is not worth measuring, it鈥檚 off the scale

I have done 2 water changes so far to keep everything relatively safe for the plants during cycle

Does the appear to just be new tank issues or further issues?

Any products people use to keep algae under control also? Always gone the natural way with my other tanks and stay away from chemicals, this is the first tank where I鈥檝e added anything into the water etc.

It's just the tank going through the stages,if doesn't clear by the time your cycle is complete, try reducing your lighting time,or introduce some clean up crew(algae eaters)

Ah thank you for that, I鈥檝e gone for my first low tech tank, the light is only a cheap led but i think it鈥檚 slightly to high still, going to keep testing for nitrite over the next 48 hours, if it doesn鈥檛 rise again I think I鈥檒l be ready for the water change and livestock hopefully
