I have had coral tanks for years and am starting to get into planted tanks. I've been cycling the new tank for 2 weeks now and all my plants are dying what is going on with this brown algae problem?!?

The plant isn't aquatic, sold by many shops as one, though. It's a dracaena.

The brown "algae" looks like diatoms to me. Common in both marine and freshwater tanks. It usually clears up on it's own. Is easy to wipe off plants and surfaces, can be siphoned away.

It is a 35 gallon tank. With about 3 wpg of 10,000 k lighting. You are probably right about the diatoms after researching them thanks you! What else do I need to add for the tank to be complete? CO2? Fertilizers? Ect
