new to the site.

i had a question regarding my 20 gallon tank.

i have cleaned out the water a few times. and gone through the rocks and such. but i cant seem to get rid of the white fuzz that is growing on the bottom of my tank. is it algae or a fungus? any idea how to get rid of it?

any help is greatly appreciated

by the way its a 20 gallon Long with the bio wheel penguin 150. 2 live plants. 1 fake. and a large rock

Sounds like molds to me. Have you been overfeeding?

i didnt think so. if i hold off on feeding a bit, do you think it will go away?

Try to remove the white stuff as you do your water changes. It will be minimized when you reduce feeding.

ok will do, ill try to change the water and clean as much of it up as possible. does this problem often go away with time?

should i take the rocks out and clean them at all? or leave them

It will go away if you maintain your tank properly and reduce feeding rations.:smile: You may clean the rocks if you like. Do not use soaps however as any residues can kill your fish.

so far ive scraped about half of it off the rocks without changing the water. seems to be a good start. dont have the time to change that much water right now with classes and work... its a real juggling act. it appears as if the fish are reacting better with less mold... go figure eh? lol
