hello new to the forum, long time aquarist but new to planted tanks. so heres my setup as of now. 56 gallon column aquarium, large canister filter, inline heater, ada aqua soil Amazonia, Hamilton 150w metal halide with ada 150w bulb, two t5 ho power glows 24 inch. tank has been running for 5 weeks cycled and water tests are perfect now. I planted some plants that went threw the cycle, dwarf hairgrass which is browning as if its dying at this point, styrogene repens which 2 of them look great and 2 have died, red ludwigia which seems to be doing well, creeping mint Charlie which seems to be doing so so. the brown diatoms are starting to form on the glass which I assume is fairly normal. I have neons, a few nerite snails, 4 ottos, 5 rummy nose. o also I tied moss to driftwood that seems to be doing really well. I have not used any ferts as of yet figuring that my soil is plenty rich for now planning to start ferts this week. so now that you know what im working with why are some plants like the repens and hairgrass dying off. also plan on cherry shrimp recommendations on brand and types of ferts is appreciated. also assume im gonna need co2 injection?
