I have a very slightly planted tank and I put in a pot with a few plants in it and voila! green water. I think perhaps the culprit was the Schultz's aquatic plant soil but I don't really know. I don't dose this tank or do anything fancy. I just feed the fish and sometimes change the water. While I find the green water soothing, the spouse does not. Apparently something must be done.
Should I invest in a UV sterilizer or a diatom filter? I wanted to invest in several pounds of anacharis but wasn't able to find any. I can probably find some this weekend, if y'all think adding weeds would help. I'd rather not black it out if there's another way.
Tank is 140 gallon tall, mostly unplanted with default lighting (very little). Not sure what the best approach is here. Any advice? (Note: I'm lazy so would prefer a labor unintensive method. :icon_neut )
Thanks!
