New Petco in Knoxville

I'm not sure how many of you would consider going to Petco, but thought I would post just in case.

The new location in Farragut (West Knoxville) is already open now but is having their grand opening this Saturday. First 100 customers get a $10 gift card and other bonuses.

I can't find their local flyer for this particular store online, but I was looking through the hard copy at work today and saw "Neon Tetras 99 cents."

I haven't decided if I'm going yet or not. Anyone else considering it?

Ich

Hey I am in Knoxville too. I went to Petco the other day and I saw some fish with ich. I will only buy from Aquarium. Thanks for the heads up. It is still a great place to buy supplies.
I'll be there with bells on. I visited the Petco in Dallas last week and was just shocked at all the pet stuff that can be had from a big store. Petco also runs a sale every August... $1/gallon for aquariums, I believe. I've cursed that we don't have one every year for the last few years.
I'll check it out, will be in Farragut anyway.
I double checked the flier this morning at work and it does read "99 Cents Neon Tetras and Male Guppies."

Also, "$189.99 29G Tao Ensemble, 29G Tank, 30" Black Deluxe Light Hood, and Tao Wood Stand."

I am going to head over there around noon today just to check it out before tomorrow morning.

I am going to have to stock my 50G so I may pick up several Neons tomorrow.

The only other thing I saw that was any good was "$17.99 Baby Leopard Geckos." in case anyone else is a reptile fan.

They also have what a co-worker is telling me are good deals on bags of doog food.

I'm with you on that. After a bad experience with fish from one of the chain stores, Aquarium is the only place where I've bought fish for the last few years.
Well, I decided that I wasn't going to wait to head over. I did just buy the last of their Neon Tetras though, so if anyone was going just for the Neons don't bother. They were already on sale as 5/$5 and were almost sold out already, I got the last 12.

They also have a pretty reasonable saltwater section for a store of their type and size.

The only experience I had with The Aquarium was when they "set me up" with 5 Tiger Barbs, 2 Plecos, and an Angelfish for a 10G that had just been set up and not cycled. I had not had a tank in years and decided to try it out on an impulse. I gave them all the info I had and they said that it would be fine. Within a week or two I had serious issues.

I have since come to the conclusion that no store, chain or otherwise, can truly be "trusted" as I should have done my research prior to my trip.

On another note, I saw a huge "Bamboo Shrimp." The picture doesn't do him justice as he is actually about 3" long. There were several smaller ones as well. They were all $5.50 ea. I think.

The dog food was the usual fare, but they actually had healthy treats. Dehydrated chicken breast without any additives at all. It was cheaper than it costs me to dehydrate my own. There was tons of stuff I wanted to buy that funds just wouldn't allow... stuff that I had never seen before (for dogs and cats.) The fish they had *looked* healthy and were dirt cheap.

I understand that. I don't go to them for advice, just for livestock and supplies occasionally. I trust them as far as the health of their fish are concerned. Although I'm sure someone has had a bad experience with that also.

Amen to that. Whoever is taking care of the fish/tanks does a great job. As far as the sells people go; good luck hearing the same thing twice from two different people. Their fish and cleanliness are 2nd to none. I am a newbie and it is the same on here, take everything with some salt and you are going to hear several different ideas about the same thing.
