New Myriophyllum leaves growing all skinny and 'spiky'?

I have what I've been told is Myriophyllum and recently all the new growth leaves are growing out in very skinny long leaves. In my picture the bottom half is the old growth which has leaves that look like your typical Myriophyllum but the new growth on top, the leaves are all really long and thin?

Does anyone know what could possibly be causing this?

Looks good to me. The old form was the emersed one. Now the plant is growing leaves adapted to underwater conditions. Thin and long leaves up to 5cm are standard for many myriophyllum sp
