My Ludwigia inclinata is a good demonstration of something I've noticed in quite a few species in my tank.
There seems to be new growth coming from most internodes even without trimming. Different species do it to different degrees but the inclinata shows it best of all. Sometimes the existing top continues to grow well, sometimes it fades out and stunts.
Generally speaking, is the development of new growth in this way a sign of a happy plant, or an unhappy one? Photo below.
