My daughter's 10g was empty and the floor was not when I went to wake her up this morning :icon_cry:. So time for a new tank.

I noticed GLA has their new line of tanks up for sale. Has anyone gotten any hands on experience with them?

How should they compare to ADA and Mr. Aqua. :icon_ques

I got a nice replay from Marco at GLA:
Hi Jack,

These are import tanks using the best glass available, Diamant. The seem work is invisible. We include warranty and can also provide bulk shipping if you combine an entire kit such as substrate and co2 etc.

Best Regards,

Here are some pics of the 8.6 gallon tank. I'm pretty happy with it. I'll probably go with the 90P or 120P equivalent tanks they have coming when I'm ready to upgrade my main tank. Shipping across the country kills the ADA tanks for me.

There are some imperfections on the silicone but nothing I'd notice from a normal viewing distance. I included them in the pictures. The only thing really noticeable is the silicone on the bottom but I wouldn't use one of these bare bottom anyways.

Edit: The photos are too green compared to the eye. There is a bit of a green tint but it is a light greenish blue. Definitely does not look like normal glass. I apparently gave people the wrong impression..

Hmmm, yeah my first impression was the glass color was different than I expected. It does seem to be a lighter/clearer green though. I'll compare side by side tomorrow with the old 10g. Are the ADA tanks completely void of green? I see a simular shade of green in some pics of Ada tanks and then none at all in others.

Thanks for the input everyone. So when I posted the pictures, I wasn't even trying to show the tint of the glass. I was just trying to show the seam work as I just assumed low iron was low iron. Seeing the tank and the pictures at the same time now, I can say the white balance was a little off. There definitely is the green tint that I noticed initially but it's not as bad as above makes it look.

Here is a normal 10g (left) next to a GLA tank (right) with adjusted white balance:

I also found this website for Diamant: http://www.tglass.com/diamant.htm
NOTE:
This glass is not totally colorless and a light green tint will become more apparent when viewed in larger pieces against a dark background.
I don't know anything about glass but it would be logical to me that there are different amounts of iron in "low iron" glass depending on the manufacturer?

Thoughts?

Did you mean the GLA tank is on the left?

In any case, I would not get too stuck on the 'low iron': just enjoy the process and focus on what's inside the tank. There a lot of people with Petco's $1/gl tanks (myself included) that hold the water, grow plants, and bring daily enjoyment.

Full speed ahead!

No the 10g glass is the dark green line plus silicone on the left. The GLA is the thicker and light green on the right.

And yes, My main tank is actually a $1/gallon 40b from petco and I like it a lot. One of these days I'll do a journal.

I love the rimless look though so I've been eyeing a 90p or 120p for awhile. Thus my interest in the new GLA vs Ada. For $600+ little things do matter to me.

Good advice though.

Ok that looks better in that pic. Wasn't trying to knock the GLA tank in my earlier post, just thought it looked a little off. The side by side really shows it well there. Thanks again for sharing.
Glad to help. I could not find anything on the tanks so figured some photos would be useful to yourself and others... probably should have thought about the color of the glass before posting.

We really like the tank. My daughter will be setting it up tonight with my help. Should be fun!
