I’m planning on picking up the hobby after a 2 year hiatus due to taking care of elderly parents out of state, requiring lots of travel.

I have always had Fluval Specs. They have a clear lid with a hole in the middle, and the light up and over the tank.

I am planning on getting a Fluval Flex this time. I like the cube shape, and want something bigger than the Flex, but not huge. The Flex has lights in a solid colored lid. I stumbled on a lid lifter on Etsy. It seems like a good idea, but is it a great idea that anyone has tried and would suggest?

I plan on keeping anubias and Java moss on wood and rock. Will be stocking with guppies and/or tetras. No plants in substrate, as I want it pretty low maintenance.

Here is pic of the setup on Etsy. Thanks for your help!

Not entirely sure why you'd need it? It's completely unnecessary unless someone is experiencing overheating. Which... that's another issue entirely.

There's no need to raise the lid. Light color and intensity are adjusted with a remote control.
Thanks!
