Hello everyone. This is Lil Betta he is supposed to be a half moon dumbo beta. I got him in the mail from California to Georgia on April 16th exactly 3 weeks ago. His left side dumbo fin was torn in shipping as well as a few pieces off his back fin. I have kept the water clean and half an Indian almond leaf in there with him. He seems to be doing okay but more tears keep showing up on his back fin. All the plants are real. The decor O run my fingers over and make sure isn’t abrasive. Just wanted opinions on what everyone thinks. Fin rot? Fin biting? Maybe just healing from shipping? Any advice would help and be appreciated. He swims around fine and I have his filter on half flow! He eats like crazy and doesn’t appear to have clamped fins. The splits just seem to get more and more as days go by. I use test strips and currently got a master test kit to be delivered tomorrow with another conditioner without stress coat as it can hurt the beta using it over and over. Any opinions re helpful on his fins and what is going on Thankyou all so much In advance!!

Is there something wrong with the Bettas fin? It appears healthy and uniform to me. Its a beautiful Betta.

Im assuming you cycled your aquarium before adding the Betta. Having Zero nitrates is very unusual in an established aquarium.

I’m not sure if anything is wrong it just seems to be progressing. And I don’t know if it should be worrisome. Yes! I cycled it for 3 weeks before putting him in. Just recently I got a master test kit as I was using test strips reading the 0 nitrates. I will be able to do a master test today! Also I would like to add that I noticed a problem myself last night. The thermometer keeps reading weird and I kept trying to regulate the heater. I recently changed yesterday to a self regulating one and the thermometer was actually 5 degrees off! So I believe that had a super factor in his stress. Also changing the conditioner I use! Thankyou for your reply on his fins looking beautiful. I had thought they were lovely but wasn’t sure if it was of concern. I believe now the temp is regulated he should do so much better!

It does look like there might be a little tear there, but just keeping your water parameters clean, warm and stable should fix that. As long as he's eating and being a betta lol I'd just keep an eye on it.

He/she looks very healthy- I wouldn't worry. It sounds like you are doing everything right.
If the fins start to look red, inflamed, or eroding unevenly then I would worry. But, as it now the fins look pretty even.
Congrats on the lovely fish.
