New Beamswork

I am slowly making the switch to LED's so I started with this one........Beamswork DA 6500K 0.50W Series LED Pent Aquarium Light Freshwater Plant Discus 24 inch.....on my 15 gal long tank . It took a little modification to my canopy , but was overall an easy install . This thing is bright . Brighter than the 3 15 watt T8's I had . May be too bright , but time will tell . I got the timer with it and it is nice also . You can time the white and blues separately . I am going to live with it awhile and then decide which ones to get for my 75 and 30 long , but they will be Beamsworks . I don't need storms or clouds , etc . Thanks again to jeffkrol for giving me an idea of conversion from T8 to LED wattage wise .

Ya I will be getting one for my 20 gallon long. They seem like nice lights and pretty much best value per par you can get. Would you mind posting pics of it and the canopy you did?
And yeah @jeffkrol is the man when it comes to lighting. Just call him the light whisperer lol

I'm about to get one for my 20 gallon also! Will be starting a tank journal and see how it performs. Also going to put pressurized co2 so hopefully plants will grow like crazy

Very nice. I'll check out your journal. Let me know when you have it up.

Alright thanks. I'll probably have it up within a week or so and I'll get my plants couple days after that.

I will get some pics tomorrow when I do W/Cs . It was after lights out tonight....lol I had 3 converted T 8 fixtures in the canopy before , but putting the Beamswork in was easy . I will explain in more detail with the pics .

You would pretty much have to run co2 with this light or would most likely get algae. Its very powerful par wise. About 100 par at 12" and 70ish par at 16". Should get awesome growth.

Sounds great thank you very much. :smile2:

For clownplanted and everyone else . I took some pics of the 15 with the new light and how it is mounted and some before pics with the T8's...........First 3 are the before.....The last 5 are the after . I just drilled the plastic mounts and used brass screws to screw to canopy . As you can see I miscalculated the hole for the power and timer cords , but all that is on a blind side and only I ever see it.....lol

Looks great. Thanks for showing the pics. Good stuff :smile2:
Thanks . Looking at the pics I can't believe the difference between the 45 watts of T8 and the Beamswork.....lol jeffkroll was right on with the 1/2 watt of LED to 1 watt of T8 rule of thumb .

Yup. When the plant article says requires a x amount of light wattage Per gallon you can usually cut that amount in half or more when comparing to LED.

CP, can you provide a link to the par data? or did you measure it yourself? thanks.

@jeffkrol has shown a par graph for this light in a few threads. I will get a link for you.

I will also be doing measurements of the light when I get it with my Seneye monitor. Will be measuring on my 60 gallon and 20 gallon long.

Nice mod to get the timer connected. Make sure you don't make the same mistake that I did and make sure that the blue and white are programmed to be on at the same time. Just white gets yellow/green.
