Here is a picture of my 2.5 gallon. I'm experimenting with Oil-Dri from Wal-Mart as the substrate. Same company that makes the turf material, and it's only 3.50 for a 50lb bag. 27watt PC desk lamp, AC150 (impeller blades cut down to slow the flow), DIY CO2 bubbling into the filter under the sponge. No heater as the tank stays at 76. HC upfront, Red Leaf Ludwigia on back left, moneywort and Red crypt on back right. 3 pieces of petrified wood as scaping.
Not the litter. Go to the auto section at Walmart and it's in a big bag with the name oil-dri for shop oil spills.
So far so good. Rinsed it really well, no clouds, even when adding plants.
