nerite snail eggs?

I have two nerites, a tiger and zebra. The other day I noticed about 15 to 20 small white oval shaped egg looking things on the rocks in my tank. I scrapped one off and it was hard and stuck to the rock pretty good. Are these eggs from the nerites? I only have Otto's and shrimp in my tank so I'm assuming they must be eggs from my nerites.

Yep probably. It sounds like them (they look like small grains of rice, right)? I find them on my plant stems and on the glass too. They can't hatch in freshwater so no worries there.
Yep exactly. Good to know. I didn't want a large population of nerites. Two of them in my 20gl go to town on the algae on my rocks. I guess I'll just let the eggs be.
Yup, those are the eggs. I had 3 nerites in my 75g for 5 years and they littered the tank with those white dots. They don't go away and, as you noticed, they don't scrape off easily. I finally let the nerites go. I ended up with more egg spots than algae!

Oh no! I'm gonna scrape them off then I don't want it to become problematic or have more of the eggs then algae. Time to do some egg hunting!
Razor blade is probably the best way to get them off stuff. So far I've only had a few so they aren't bugging me enough to go armpit deep in my 37g to get rid of them. Oh the joys of being a 5'4" aquatic gardener...

If you leave the eggs for a while, the shrimp or nerites end up eating them.
How long is a while? I thought 5 years and 100 amanos would have been enough to handle the eggs from just 3 nerites. But it wasn't.
In ~1 month all my eggs have gone from white little specks to just white rings. And those are slowly going away as well.
My nerite eggs just sat there, and I still have them on the wood two years later. They are tough!

Yup. That's what mine did. Five long years worth of white dot after white dot after white dot... all on a tank with black substrate, a black background, and black pipes. Ugh!

I really hated to let my nerites go since I had had them for so long, but I just couldn't let them scatter their eggs everywhere after I had just cleaned everything out. At least the guy that got them was really happy.
Has anyone tried taking them off and putting them in a bowl/small tank of brackish/salt water ? I live on waterfront property on a canal where the ocean meets the stream, do you think they will hatch if I put the eggs in there ?
Are you gonna trow the eggs in the canal? Or bring canal water home and put the eggs in that?
Cause the first one is extremely irresponsible but the second one sounds interesting.

Nerite eggs disappear withing 2 months of being laid in my tanks.

Perhaps a little bit of both (JK =P), I'm getting in 10 horned nerites in the mail tomorrow, so when they do lay eggs ill post a thread on it. Does anyone know the exact salinity they need ? Is it brackish or full salt ?
