Needle valve fitting help

336 Views 3 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  Rhenerie
Hey Folks,

So I am putting together my CO2 system, and part of that is a Swagelok SS-SS4A with compression fittings. I got the appropriate adapters, I believe, but am struggling a little bit to see how they will actually go together. So attached is a pic of the bits that it came with. My question is....which order and orientation do the compression bits go? I didn't want to really start cranking on the threaded cap without being sure so I didn't ruin it. As it is, if its just barely finger tight with the ferrules in what seems like a logical place, the tube adapter can slide in and out freely.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Looks like it's the correct sequence as laid out in picture.
The smaller ferrule ( back ferrule) follows the same orientation as the front ferrule - smaller end to the valve

Swagelok has a video on installation on their site/ youtube.com

Good deal, thanks!

I didn't realize they had those resources on their site, too. Thanks a lot!
Make sure you read the swagelok field assembly guide, or watch those videos.. install the ferrules in the correct orientation, and turn the nut 450° past finger tight (1-1/4 turns or 360+90°)
