First ya gotta answer some questions:
1. Whats your budget?
2. What kinda light do you have?
3. How much work do you want your tank to be?

Oh and just to let you know, you probably wont need the airpump, and most of those fish will eat your shrimp.

First of all thanks for your reply Baadboy, here are the answers for your questions:

1> Budget.. now this is a tricky question, I have nothing on ma mind to calculate... would you please help me know what would it cost to have an average start up tank.

2> I have the normal tube light which came in with the tank which is like a 40 Watts Each have 2 of them fixed on to the lid.

3> Hay how about you take a call on this m just a start in planted you are the expert please advice me.

Thanks,
Ravi
Alright well for substrate you can go the cheap route and do mineralized soil with a cap of sand or anything else....or you can spend a little more and get something like ecocomplete or flourite that is labeled as a plant substrate. If you don't mind spending money the ecocomplete is probably faster and easier...check the substrate threads for more info.

As for your lights, they are probably pretty low powered, do you know if they are T8 or T5 or T12? It should say on the bulb. This will determine which plants you can grow and your level of maintenance.
