Hey guys,

So I have a 15 gallon and didn't really want to do another community tank, i think i want to split the tank and house multiple bettas.

The thing is i can't decide how many times to split the tank.

The 15 gallon is 24x12x12.

So if i split the tank once, i would be able to house 2 bettas, each having 12x12x12 (7.5 gallons)

But if i split it 2 times, i would be able to keep 3 bettas, each getting 8x12x12 (5 gallons each)

I just can't decide, what would you do?

I'm kinda even considering making it a half shrimp half betta tank. I just don't know what to do lol I Need help guys, convince me of one or the other or else i'm going to be stuck deciding lol

Thanks and have a great day! :hihi:

I say make one very lucky Betta ruler of his own 15 gallon kingdom! The shrimp might be far game for a Betta, but how knows.

I ran into a similar issue; I had a 10 gallon planted tank, was shutting down, but didn't really want to shut down. My daughter's pre-school had a number of tanks with wide assortment of fish. I decided to help the school. I made some changes with the 10 gallon, moved the healthiest Betta in, along with a dwarf puffer (to control the snails) and recently three Otos (help control the algae). The school also had two rather sick Cory Cats that didn't make it.

I've also dumped in a fe local grass shrimp. I've seen both the Betta and the Dwarf Puffer hunting the shrimp, but many have survived.

The Betta and the Puffer seem to have settle into uneasy truce. The Betta has charged the Puffer, but the Puffer easily dodges. They've been together in the tank for over six weeks. I think they'll be ok.

As I said the I've added 3 Otos to help control the algae. I might double that number in the coming weeks.

Puffer + Betta = shredded fins on the Betta, perhaps dead Betta. That truce won't last.

As for what to do with a 15, I do not like divided tanks. I would go for 1 Betta and a small school of lower swimming fish. Some of the smaller Cories would be good.

I might actually go with an undivided tank. I feel a big divider in the middle of the tank will be too much of a distraction, thanks for your input guys. I thought no one was going to reply lol
