need snails for my puffers!

Hi all -

I have a huge supply of trumpet snails, but evidently they aren't that great for my pea puffers (shells to hard) so I'm setting up a 2.5g tank just to breed snails for them.

Does anyone around here have pond snails or ramshorns and might be able to help get the colony started??? I have only ever had MTS so I'm not sure where to get pond/ramshorns!

thanks, Dave

I've got pond snails. You're welcome to stop by and take some if you can't find them closer to you (I'm in Louisville). Bring some of your MTSes, I'd love to have some.
I can set out a bottle trap and have a bunch of MTS by morning. How many would you like :) Really, you just need one to start things off but having 10+ will establish your population more quickly. Any time is ok for me!!
Snails available

If you still need more ramshorn snails, I have a plastic shoe box I toss them in and it is getting pretty full. I would not mind a few of the trumpet snails as well. I am in Aurora.
I could probably grab 10 MTS by hand in about 5 minutes, throw them into a ziploc and be in the car in 30 min. Any takers? I am near downtown Denver and could get out to Aurora in no time :)

For some reason, ramshorn snails seem less gross then pond snails so I sort of prefer them :)
Ok, I am hoping to line up some ramshorns or pond snails today! :)

Does anyone know any stores that have them, or have them to trade/ROAK/sell around town? My little 2.5 is all ready, and I don't think I really need to cycle it for the snails :)

Just how much you can catch in 5 minutes. I'm home all day today, sending you a PM with my contacts in a moment.
You think puffers can eat Spixi snails? I got too busy with school and these monsters got out of control. I am sure they would have trouble with the big ones, but I am wondering if introducing a puffer would help keep things under control.
I love how this thread is turning out!

Yay mollusk connection!
DenverTankCollector might be interested in your extra Spixis. I don't want to speak for him, but he has a few now, as I recall. I'd be interested in some if you still have excess next month. I think they're très cool!

Let me know when you want them. Between my 3 tanks I probably have about 200. I think they are cool too.... Just got out of control.
