ok so i set up a 20 long today, it has ada amazonia soil, lava rock, and a fluval hob filter. the tank sits on a bar and it is viewable from both sides, from my dining room and from my living room. so i want the filter on the end of the tank so not to block any viewing from either the dinning room or living room. well my problem is that i cannot set a light fixture on top now because of the filter being on the end. so is there a capable clamp on light that would give me a low to medium light. or maybe a fixture i could hang above the tank? and im not partial to one type of light over another. suggestions would be great!!!

so nothing i guess.........:confused1:
There are several options for lights, you can get a hanging kit for several lights out there. I think Finnex makes one. A lot of people that have big tanks or a lot of them use shop lights, the kind you get from Home depot or lowes. I am not sure if they make them in a small enough size to hang over a 20 Long. But it would be worth checking out.
Many use a metal dome style clamp light over the tank. It can be hung by the cord or clamped on something. If you want to double the lighting add one of these?

so i went and bought the 150w metal dome lights from lowes, i bought 2 of them and two 75 watt daylight cfl bulbs, and it wasnt near bright as i thought. should i have bought highe rwatt bulbs?

you bought 75W "equivalent" CFL's right?? Actually they are 20W(ish)
The appearance of 'brightness' also depends on the Kelvin rating of the bulbs. 5,000K+ ('Daylight') will look brighter then 2,600K ('Soft White') bulbs of the same wattage to human eye.

What you are finding here is that our eyes are not very good as test sets. What we see may not be the same as what plants want.
