Well, it was planted long ago, then switched to Dats and Bichers, etc. Now I am coming back. This time, I want to try and stall with small fish and inverts.

So throw me some ideas!!!!!!

Please use common names too, that way it isn't as hard to figure out what fish/plants you are talking about. thx

I love swords, crypts, and ferns. You can fit a lot in there. Stem plants might be a hassle to constantly trim with that large of a tank. For fish, I'd go a large school of rummynose tetras and angels. Of course, you'll need an army of otos and amano shrimps. You can find some real nice driftwood pieces from S&S.
That's it? C'mon people.

Do Rummy Nose tetras eat shrimp?

What are some small crayfish that will not eat all my plants?

i think the general rule is if it fits in their mouth they will eat it.
rummynose are nice tight schoolers, and once their deep ruby color really shows they are very nice. also an easy indicator that the water quality is good :D
You could also go with either cardinal or neon tetras instead of rummy nose.
I agree with crypts, swords, anubias and ferns for plants.

As far as inverts I think you can keep shrimp with most fish as long as you create enough hiding spots and crevices. Rummynose, neons and cardinals have been done to death of course everyone is entitled to there opinion. There are soo many cool fish the possibilities are endless, I am in love with chocolate gouramies, bettas, rainbows especially featherfin rainbows and dwarf plecos.

How tall is the tank? Have you considered a riparium? You could do something spectacular with a 210gal.
I like rummynose because it gives a touch of red as well as school tightly. Plus I haven't had them yet. Take a look at invertzfactory or even frank's aquarium. They have some more unique fish if you want to try something new. Plus they QT their shipments which is a plus.

I think it is about 29 inches tall. I will have to look tomorrow.

What is a riparium?
That is my current dream tank. Would fit perfectly on the wall where my current 5 foot tank is now.

I had a 5'x2'x2' tank and a couple of rose swords filled it completely. Stick to crypts and ferns for rosettes. Swords just break your heart, they are lovely and you have to take them out as they are just too large. I would use plants you don't need to deal with often in the back and use stems only in the fore and mid ground of the tank just because standing on a step stool to get the one arm in the tank to work and leaning to see through the front glass gets old fast. My arm didn't reach to the bottom back of that tank when I looked through the front glass either.

I would use a valley shape so you have two tall planting spaces and one low planting space. Even with only 5' just a slope from right to left was chaotic looking with too much going on.

Use thicker wood to be in balance with the size of the tank.

I think it matters how the tank is viewed as to the size of the fish that go in. My tank is mainly viewed from about 6' away and 2" platies are easily watched but the slightly smaller otos, neon tetras and such are harder to enjoy. I probably would prefer watching smaller rainbow fish like dwarf blue rainbows to even smaller harlequin rasboras as a schooling type fish. In that tank you could have good sized groups of schooling fish like congo tetras or any rainbow fish you liked. I would have at least one large school of a good sized corydora catfish for sure as well as lots of otos and probably several twig catfish.

29" tall would be great height for a riparium.

As for what they are this should answer your question http://ripariumsupply.com/
