Hi
I just wanted to show my JBJ Nano cube MOD

I wanted to use this for shrimp but the larger intakes
would suck up the small fry

this is how the design for me lets this be a shrimp tank

sponge housing: was two of those plastic utility organizers drawers
cut of one end off and drilled more intake holes.
Aquarium silicone glued the opening

cut a sponge a little bigger than the drawer and slide it in
blocking the larger slotted opening

cleaning: slide/pull out the sponge, rinse and put back.

Thanks for looking
Robert

Im planning on doing the same for mine, but i was gonna just put a square sponge on the inside of the top one. so it doesnt stick out like that, itll block the shrimp from geting in. as for the bottom intake, i filled the back end of my tank with enough aquasoil to cover it. so no need to worry about that.

I just got one, it only has the top inlet and came with the surface skimmer attachment.
So I just fill up the surface skimmer with filter floss for the same effect. I was planning on getting a foam block and trying to cut it to size as the filter floss starts to clog after a week or so.

The surface skimmer came in it's own box, as if you could buy it seperately. Seems to work well for this purpose.
