I am going to be setting up a 2.5 gallon tank soon and was wondering what a good filter would be? I don't want an internal filter because it is such a small space and I think a power filter might have a little to much flow for a small tank. so does anybody know of a good filter that won't take up too much space in the tank and that won't have to much flow?

Red Sea Nano and the Azoo Palm Filter is the BEST hang on back filter for a 2.5g in my opinion. Aquaclear 20 would be your next bet, but I'd use that for a 5.5g or a 10g tank. Hagen Elite Mini and/or Tom's Dive are also good, but use your scape to hide it nicely.

Red sea nano filter. Silent unless my media, which isn't in a bag, falls onto the inlet that covering the propeller.

Agree with Red Sea Nano/Azoo Palm. Very dependable, quiet and small footprint. Used them for years on Mini S (3.5G)

If you google around, you can often find the Red Sea Nano for about $5. Well worth it. I use them pretty much exclusively on my standard 2.5gals and they're super-easy to fill with your preferred media and sponges. Have nice flow control, too.
