Looks like a Nesaea. They do a have a small distribution in the American southwest/Texas/etc.

There are 3 species in the genus, the most common being Nesaea longipes.

Also could be an Ammania, and there are also 3 possibilities, assuming you collected them in the general area of which you live, Tom.

Ammannia coccinea
Ammannia auriculata

Looks like a cross between Ammania and R macrandra.
Very pretty plant here in the Santa Ynez river in the National forest huh?

I know what it is precisely, question is, see if you can figure it out.
It's not a native to CA either and is quite common here.

I have known about this plant for about 7 years at this location, perhaps sfbaaps would like to see this weed. Make a nice desert camping trip.

This water is some of the hardest liquid that's still called Freshwater, all the rocks have white precipitate over them. It's got some pretty deep spots that you can dive in etc and swim.

Not bad after a hot day of weed hunting..........
Trout, there's some other fish and critters here.

We have native sword plant, Echinodorus berteroi here as well.
The Cellophane sword plant, very translucent leaves.

I nabbed me one of those. That's the only known location for the sword in a natural range in CA.

This place is about 30 minutes from Santa Barbara, CA, and about 10 minutes from Micheal Jackson's Neverland Ranch....well, to the road and then it's about 10 minutes down that.

It is a non native weed from Europe common to CA.

It's green emergent and in our tanks and you likely have never seen it in the hobby, I posted something years ago when I found it.

I can't see it being a Bacopa, but do tell me if I'm wrong. This one is really bothering me. I've probably spent a good 3 hours researching.

There are 2800 species in the family and 200 genera. It's also edible, like all of these in this genus.

It's not a genus you have kept unless your name is Tom Barr
