I need help identifying two different plants I got for free cuz they had no pkg. from a petco? One looks dead the roots are black and britle the leaves are somewhat still green but have a black tint to them, that's the second pic. The first one the plant is green with a hint of turning red like a cardinal flower that's the only plant I can think of what it looks like. Thanks!

They both look like terrestrial plants; did you by any chance by them at Petco or Petsmart?

Hi newbieplanter,

Sorry I missed that. Both Petco and Petsmart sell plants that are suitable for terrariums and aquariums; some of the plants are even marked as being OK for aquariums that are not. I think you have two terrestrial species there, the second one being a fern.

on closer inspection it might be Trichomanes Javanicum...

I was running with African fern till I looked up Trichomanes Javanicum, and saw it in the pkg from petco that's how it must have been pkged all the aquarium plants are like that, (pkged) now to see how to plant it Thanks again.
