Hello, I am new to planted tanks but I have kept regular tanks for a couple years. I am interested in making a low tech planted tank out of my 20 gallon. I have an Aquaclear 50 filter and plan to get an Eheim Jager heater. I want to keep dwarf gouramis, blue rams, rummynose tetras, and mystery snails. I am confused about lighting but I have been looking at this light: http://www.petmountain.com/product/...rent-usa-nova-extreme-t5ho-x2-freshwater.html. I want mostly low-medium light plants that can be attached to driftwood and a few mosses. I like the caribsea eco-complete planted substrate: http://www.caribsea.com/pages/products/planted_aquar.html. I was wondering if just this substrate would be adequate to grow plants or if I have to have another layer of something else. I don't want to do CO2 and minimal fertilizers. Any recommendations on certain plant care products and tips on setting up the tank would be nice. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
