Not all plants pearl... Do you have Riccia? This and some stem plants pearl a lot. Others don't. Sometimes ppl confuse pearling with gases coming out of solution, like after a water change.
Pearling is not the holy grail of tank health.

I've had plants pearl when they were infested with algae.
^^ Me too - it's funny, isn't it? Laugh till ya cry... :p
I have had algae pearl also....that sucks
ive had this happen, lol!

i currently have in this tank...m.quadrifolia, c.wendtii,(red and brown),c.parva, h.polysperma, rotala roundifolia (red), e.tenellus, micro tenellus, and two (for a reason i dont know) mini swords (never been able to get the growth i see some people with).

i think thats about all.

From your list, the Rotala is a plant that will pearl, the Hygro somewhat. Keep in mind not pearling mainly means that oxygen saturation has not been reached. There could be many reasons for this. Not enough plant mass would be one.

Are you sure it was the plants and not the algae that was pearling?:hihi: :hihi:
I have yet to find a plant that won't pearl for me... barring a few short-lived experiments... Though some pearl more obviously and more readily...

I think Wasserpest hit it on the head... If you have good light, strong nutrients and CO2, then it may well be a question of plant mass. You need enough plants producing O2 to saturate your water column +++. I also once had a problem with circulation (plugged intakes on my canisters) that caused a marked reduction in pearling, though it did not stop...

A final thought would be age of your setup - new setups with new plants will not typically pearl for you right away. They really need to settle in - say 3-4 weeks before you start to see good pearling...
i have had the same setup for a while now(3-4 months). maybe its that there isnt enough plant mess to spark pearling, that makes sense to me.

i forgot to mention that i have a xp1 and the tank is 29g. its a diy co2 setup with one 3L soda bottle and one ~1.89L juice bottle, the co2 is tubed into my filter intake. and only really small bubbles come out of it. i assume that means that most of the gas is dissolved in the water.

i get about 3-4 bubbles every 6-7 seconds. it comes in sperts, i assume its because the co2 has to go almost all the way to the tank floor to reach the intake opening.

dapellegrini- its banners like your aape one that makes me want my plants to pearl.
