Mystery Plant

What is the name of this plant?! I saw it in a heavily planted tank at a LFS. I asked the owner what it was, but he didn't seem to know. I've been searching online, but I really haven't seen anything that looks like a dead ringer. Maybe a variety of Rotala or Ludwigia? I LOVE the way this plant looks and I want some for my tank.

Can anyone help?

Looks like some variation of Hygrophila corymbosa... maybe Hygrophila corymbosa 'siamensis'? But i don't think it typically has the red coloration on the bottom sides of the leaves like yours does.
Or maybe it's some sort of Nesaea...

I honestly don't know, it could be some sort of ludwigia too.
Yeah, the leaf shape is definitely Hygrophelia-like. The red coloration is what really made it stand out to me. It was so vibrant, almost like a purple hue. The owner said he thought it was Lobelia Cardinalis.... Not sure about that one. He was very adamant about the Cardinalis part haha.
DEFINITELY not lobelia cardinalis... lolololol.
HAHA Yeah, so frustrating. There was only that little bit in his tank too!

P.S. where in AZ are you from? I used to live on 56th and Camelback, near Fashion Square.

I live about 15 minutes away from Fashion Square, in the PV/Arcadia area. They had a huge flash mob there about a week ago... it was pretty awesome, lol. :flick:
Looks a lot like Alternanthera reineckii emersed.
Alternanthera reineckii. In higher light, the entire plant is red, not just the underside of the leaves.

Oh nice. I loved it out there! So I was thinking this kinda looks like the plant in the middle of helgymatt's old 75G rimless? http://www.plantedtank.net/forums/tank-journals-photo-album/75853-rimless-75-gallon-wheres-equipment.html
I think that's it! Good call!
Well I was way off, lol.
Oh well.

It's a fantastic plant. It's prettier in lower light levels, in my opinion.
Thanks for everyone's help BTW. I agree sewingalot. The sharp contrast between the bright green and the bright red/pink is what made me so attracted to it. The Plant Guide says its a difficult plant to keep healthy, because it's a slow grower. What has your experience with it been like?
It's easy to grow in my opinion. It is almost as easy as hygro. In higher light, it was an algae magnet if you let the co2 slip at all. In lower tech tanks, it grew nicely for me with just root fertilizers.
Nice. I'm putting together a plant wish list and rough layout for a High-Tech GLA 30cm cube I want to set up.... I think Alternanthera reineckii just made the list.
Helgymatt did this plant justice. He's the reason I want to get it again. It's really a lovely specimen. If you are into emersed plants, this is a great one to grow.
Have you found the plant finder on APC yet? This is a great asset to the planted community if you haven't seen it. You may have to sign up to see it: http://www.aquaticplantcentral.com/forumapc/plantfinder/
Yeah. I was just looking at some of his pics. Amazing color contrast. So a stem plant like this would do well with DSM?

Thanks! I hadn't seen this yet.
It's a great asset. I always search on the plant finder when I am looking at getting a new plant, wanting care tips or looking for spelling, lol. I haven't done DSM, but I think it may work. It did very well for me in a riparium setting.
