Just to be clear I posted this on a local planted enthusiast club (SCAPE).
I'm looking to add cherry shrimp to my tank next week. The tank is ready in terms of ground cover (its an established community tank) and so on.
My question concerns my water and whether I should do anything to treat it. Here are the parameters (all tested using strip tests):
KH- 300 ppm (16.85 dkh?)
GH -300 ppm
pH - 8.0 +
Nitrates at 20 ppm. Ammonia and Nitrites at 0.
Water is tap water treated with Prime.
I'm more worried about the water hardness and pH more than anything. The tank is kept between 75-80F year round.
Changing water to RO is probably not an option for me. However, I have heard that Glacier drinking water is great...perhaps I could mix the two?
Thanks for any input!
