My shrimps are getting really irritated with the long green hair algae. is there anything i can do or use to get rid of or control this stuff. they get ll tangled up in the algae and they look stressed trying to get out of it. I try to pull some out once a day but that doesn't seem to be working. :help:

I am new to planted tanks and am in your same situation. Today I found one of my RCS dead after being tangled in some hair-looking algae. I spent quite awhile tonight removing as much as I could and doing a 50%-ish water change. The tank looks much better, hopefully it'll last. I think I know what started the algae--a couple of weeks ago I added another light to my setup. Too much. I've since taken my 2nd light away and am thinking of reducing my photoperiod to try to keep the algae in check.
