Hey guys long time stalker of the forums, i figured it was about time i started a thread. This will be a log to help me keep track of my progress, learn from my viewers and hopefully help others in need.

i'm starting my first planted tank below are the details (Advice Welcome)

Tank - 12" Cube (Spray Painted Black back)
Light -Aqua Zonic 27cm LED (10x1.5W +4x8000k+ 3x9C LED + 2x0.24w LED)
Filter - Aquaclear 20 (Friend gave me a Eheim 2213 but its quite bulky)
Heater - TBA
Substrate - Laterite Capped W/ Pool Filter Sand

Questions -

1 - I plan on stocking Cherry Shrimp and Celestial Pearl Danios, will this tank suffice?
2 - What would you rate the lighting at (High/Med/Low)?
3 - What filter should i use?
4 - Will the substrate be suitable in the long run, i can add root tabs and dose ferts if needed
5 - I've picked some plants will these be suitable? Pogostemon Helferi, Vallisneria Nana, Blyxa Japonica?
6 - Can anyone suggest a good carpeting plant? (no c02 it seems like to much work for a beginner lol

Pictures of my current progress on the way

From I have seen it appears to be a super bright light. I don't see how you are going to keep it low tech. Looks like you will need to inject co2.
Hey Hilde, Thanks for the input i was planning on lowering the photoperiod to around 8 hours and seeing how it goes. As i said the idea of suffocating my fish scares me :S.
