She dumped my used, drying, ADA substrate on into the law because it was quote "sitting there forever". It was in a 5 gallon bucket drying for future use when need be. it was under the deck and not in her vision at all. So she crawled under the deck and hauled it out to dumb $100 worth of lovely clay pellets onto the ground... genius I tell you.. Told her many times to please not touch it.

GAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH

ADA substrate? Thats pretty bad. I dunno what that is but it sounds expensive, if it's ADA. Is it salvageable?

Very sorry to hear that man. My parent's have done the same thing several times, and i've always questioned "WHY???????". Just doesn't make any sense.

I had a $500.00 fancy train set that i got for christmas when i was 7, and my parents gave it away a few years ago because they thought i "grew out of it". What about saving it for my kids? Or what if i still wanted to play with it occasionally?

I'd make her pay for that substrate lol...

impossibly. in a high traffic area I don't visit much. Stomped and eroded into a lovely flat piece of clay.

Just the classic stuff you see in peoples tanks. I forget the name.

yikes, sorry to hear that.. i'd be majorly ticked.

i know the feeling though, i'm constantly replacing odds and ends of stuff for my tank because of my kids, i've got no where to put most of it so it sits in a tub in my closet and they get into it quite often.. had bottles of prime completely dumped, ferts dumped.. it's a mess and costly

Hmmm your parents must be related to my wife! About a year agao I set up my tank, I didn't buy enugh ADA amazonia, so I ordered another 2 bags, because I knew I wanted at least one more tank, just bot anytime soon. So I had a full bag( I opened it but never used it ) and a half bag just sitting next to a tank in the living room. When my inlaws came fro Georgia to visit us In MA, my wife did a "clean up" and had my son throw out all of the ADA brown"gold"! My son being the genius he is SPILLED the bags into the trash can, instead of being a normal person and placing the bags in them. I feel your pain brother. :)

Ahhhh thats so lame!

I just have fluorite gravel, but to me it was wicked expensive, I don't have much money, so $25 per bag of gravel was a chunk out of, actually my bf's wallet... it was a gift to me. But someone threw out half a bag, when I said not to touch it!

My wife doesnt touch my aquarium stuff, however, she threw the envelope with my brand new passport into the trash. Fortunately I went looking for it before we took the trash out.

Aren't those important pieces of mail (i.e. driver's license, passport, etc) often in big envelopes that make it clear it's not garbage? :icon_smil

Yes, I think she thought I had taken it out because it was open but I had left it in the envelope waiting for hers to arrive.

Man, that sucks, I would be really mad if my parents threw away any of my stuff. But I'd get in more trouble if I get mad at them, so I just ask them for a replacement nicely lol.

Oh wow, that's tough. =(

When I went to college, my mom was cleaning through my old room and found a box in the closet with a bunch of rocks in it. Not knowing that they were my rock collection (yes...I'm a nerd...), she tossed them out in the backyard flower bed. And there was some neat, expensive stuff in there, fossils and gold ores and such. And then my parents moved. So...when I came to get the rocks, they were gone, and I could not go out and get them. =(

When I moved to Arizona a few months ago, I left an 80 gallon Oceanic hex. tank with a stand, lights, canopy, wet/dry filter, (a whole saltwater setup, worth hundreds of dollars) at my parents' house since I had nowhere to put it. I also left a bunch of ten and twenty gallon tanks, and told my mom she could sell them because I had no room for breeding angelfish anymore. Well, she remembered that at one time I'd been thinking of getting rid of the 80 (I wanted to trade it with someone for a 125 that I could plant, since I don't do saltwater now and the 80 was just an awkward shape and size.). So, some guy sees it in the shed, and offers her $50 for the whole deal...she calls me up the next day to let me know she sold it and is putting the money in the mail! Argh! Parents...you gotta love them. They mean well even if they don't know what they are doing sometimes.
