Well, I officially have MTS (Multiple Tank Syndrome).

Got lucky today and picked up 6 10 Gallon tanks complete with Heaters, MarineLand Biowheel HOB Filters, Marineland Dual Incandescent Fixture Canopies, and Stealth Heaters, for a really good deal.

Right now I'm having fun setting up 1 as an RCS tank.

We are putting one on the Wife's Desk for Dwarf Puffers also. ;)

you meen screw in compact fluorescent. There is a difference between Incandescent and flourescent.

Flourescent - A discharge lamp in which a phosphor coating transforms ultraviolet energy into visible light

Incandescent - light source based on electricity passing through a thin filament, heating the wire to high temperatures to produce light

both of these types of lamps are offered in a screw-in.
Okay, Screw-in. ;) They are incadenscent fictures, but I want Screw-in 6700K Compact Flourescent bulbs at around 20W.
GE makes 15W-26W 6500k cf... it's $5 and you can get it in target/walmart etc..
You just have to measure a little.. the CFs might be a little big to fit in those old hoods.
13 to 15 watts usually fit in fine with those fixtures. The 20w and up usually have the bulbs making contact with the plexiglass covers in the hood.

Nice score! :)

Hmm, the hoods are only 3 years old (2004), but due to the rubber to protect the socket unfortuntately they won't fit.

I know, tried that already. They have a much larger base than your standard incandescent.

I know coralilfe makes some, but don't know what the spectrum on them is.
Theu make super compact ones now... I saw them at target yesterday.
great tank, now lets wait for the next 5, what's your plan?
One is for the wife, originally she was talking Dwarf Puffers, but now she isn't sure.

As for the other 4, don't know yet. The original plan was only for 4, 1 for her, 1 for shrimp, 2 for breeders.......

So, it's a toss up right now.

They should fit in any incandescent socket, could you take a pic of the inside of the hood?

Well, the Walmarts here don't sell them, but you were on the nose with Target.

15W 6500K Compact Flourescent.

With the built in reflectors (which aren't that great) it sure makes one hell of a difference in light in the tank. :)

I will try to get pictures in my Shrimp Tank post tonight after I get home from work.
