So after talking to my dad he said he prolley could get soem LED's for me. so today they showed up. they have a holder, resistor and led all built into one unit. and they were free. 
so we found a belt transformer in the basement and started taking things apart. here is the final product.

I have 3 of them on my 20 long, i secured them with a glop of hot glue. works well and keeps em tight and out of the water. works for me.
here they look tonight. i also strun one up to reach my 5 gallon so hey all have blue moons. looks sweet IMO.
