wkndracer i used a air/water tight food container from my local hardware store for the housing! all parts and filter media cost me about £20! including the pump!
As long as the lid on those food containers do not sit below the tank water level, they make excellent DIY canister filters also. You just have to maintain the lock lid at or above the water line otherwise tank water pressure will cause the lids to leak bad. Great HOB DIY wet/dry filter you made there by the way roud:
thanks cw04gunner! i understand what u are saying and agree with u ....i was going to make a canister style filter but i was worrying about the lid and water pressure! thats why i went with my style! no water pressure!
i think my style works better !
one down side to my filter design,the intake pump has to be in the main tank on show! other than that it works great !
