In my quest to get the right water parameters, I added a pinch of aquarium salt to my Cardinal Shrimp tank to raise the GH a bit. and this morning I noticed that some of them had this blue color. I also had just turned on the light so I dont know if this is normal or if I somehow screwed up.

They are in a 7 gallon fluval
PH 8
Temp - 81F
GH 4
KH didnt test
TDS didnt test

What are you feeding them? Some foods will affect shrimp color.

the only thing i can think of is a piece of spinach was thrown in, I'll see if they stay that color and take a few photos tonight.

They turn blue every night, & also when they're stressed.

What kind of Cardinals Shrimp do you have??? And what type of aquarium salt did you add??
Are you trying to remineralize your water??

It's normal, cardinals turn blue at night.

They also turn blue when stressed

they are pretty like that. im guessing it is a camo thing to help them blend in when sleeping so as to not get eaten?

Shrimp don't sleep, but it's probably for that reason. Probably hiding from nocturnal predators.
